People want the NBA lockout to end before the season starts, like the NFL lockout did. The NBA has already cancelled all its pre-season games. But now, the NBA has also cancelled the first two weeks of the season. Both owners and players will lose more and more money if the lockout never ends. Some people are interested in watching professional basketball games after the NFL season. Even though the season has been shortened, the price of tickets will not drop, but there will be refund plus the interest for those season ticket holders. For those people who also watch other sports will have the substitution before lockout is over. But for those who don’t watch other than NBA will have to find other entertainment to watch. The fans were already upset when the lockout first began, NBA might lose part of its fans as well as their support for the time and not willing to buy tickets anymore. No one wants to see the lockout keep on going and cost the cancellation of whole 2011-2012 season, both owners and players won’t get what they are arguing right now: money. The fans definitely are disappointed the season is having delay.

The NBA will have to solve the lockout problem if they want to make any money. Arguing over how much money they make is slowly draining the amount of maney they could make. With the cancellation of the first two weeks things are reaching a critical level. Also this cancellation will weigh in the mind of fans when choosing which sports to watch. The NBA needs their fans to make money. They must solve the lockout to keep their league alive in consumers minds.
If the NBA lockout continues any longer than it already has the cities that the teams are located in will see a fall in their economy because the tourist are what allow the towns to flourish. When tourist visit they spend a huge amount of money on food, hotels, gas, and tickets. So the NBA lockout is stopping all of the tourist from flocking to that city and spending their money.

Here's an interesting video made by Taiwan's media explaining the how the lockout happened. It all went down to money; everyone wants to own more than they do. Players and owners want increase both of their income. Both sides have to back up in the process of negotiation which they didn’t do and caused the cancellation of first two weeks of game. Those NBA players or stars are the specialization of labor. They can go to play in other professional league if the lockout doesn’t end to avoid the lost of their money and career.
I don't believe NBA will be losing all that much money by canceling the first two weeks of the season. And whatever money they do lose now will easily make up later in the season or at the latest next season. Whenever the the NBA season does begin there will be a bigger boom of people watching the games even more so than usual. The cities will be taking the biggest hit as they will not only lose money from the tourists but also the players travelling there for their games.
The major issue of the lockout is that there are many of local business depend on their local teams. The lockout not only effects on the owners and the players but also the local business and its economy. And there is no guarantee of having a season at all. Also, the NBA’s TV partner and those local TV broadcast for local teams are losing its money throughout the whole lockouts. Another issue is that as the fans are frustrated of the lockout, they might walk away from NBA and quit watching it. With all the problems waiting for NBA to solve, I don’t think NBA could make up the money which it has already lose from the pre- season games and season cancellation, but once the lockout ends, NBA will still be earning money from the fans and the television broadcast.
