Starbuck's Stimulus Package
Starbucks has teamed up with Opportunity Finance Network and announced their "Jobs for USA" program. The program will kick off on November 1. All Starbucks locations will collect $5 donations to distribute through the OFN to 180 financial institutions. Those 180 financial institutions supply loans from"charter schools to grocery stores nationwide." In the 27 years of existence the Network has collected over $23 billion and created over 300,000 jobs CEO Howard Schultz has stated that "This is about using Starbuck's scale for good." Starbucks Corp. hopes to have a $5 donation for every person who cannot afford to donate $5.

This is an interesting article. Do you foresee this being problematic in today’s economy? I do agree that using the scale of Starbucks is a great idea.
I think this is a great idea. It's about time a big time company has done something like this. More companies need to use there "scale for good." I don't see this as being problematic in today's economy. It should help stimulate the economy. If more companies did this we could be out of this recession soon.
I believe Starbucks can use its power to help the economy. However giving loans will not make people want to spend that money. Jobs need people spending money not people having it. While Starbucks is helping the economy they need people spending money to solve this recession.
